Jackson – Pug
My dog Jackson struggles with anxiety and has for his entire life. My vet recommended a behaviorist rather than medication and after a weekend getaway that ended with me leaving angry and sad that Jackson’s the way he is I decided it was time for professional help. From the first conversation with Jenzi I was confident that she could help Jackson, plus she didn’t hang up even after telling her all of his issues! For 3 weeks he learned how to chill out and access his internal off switch. Car rides are no longer screaming fits that last until we reach our destination, he no longer charges at the TV when there’s animals or animal sounds. He is calmer and a much more enjoyable dog to be around. I used to dread road trips because of the non stop screaming, but not any more. I am writing this review on our way to San Diego and this is the first time my husband and I have been able to carry on a conversation while Jackson’s in the car. Jenzi has worked a miracle with Jackson, and I highly recommend her for any dog training needs. She is professional, responds in a timely manner and works absolute magic with dogs!

Finn & Daisy – Standard Poodles
Three weeks of training. Two standard poodles. One great trainer. We’ve two standards aged 1 and 6. The older dog had been good on trails, but never great, had been okay on walks, but far from well mannered if a surprise popped up. He had been kept home too long and was no longer manageable outside the home. The younger dog was a COVID pup that had never been socialized due to our staying at home for a year and was afraid of everything. We did our research, interviewed various trainers, followed up with referrals provided and made our selection. The dogs were individually boarded and trained by Jenzi at Great Expectations K9 Training for three weeks. During training she stayed in contact with us via text, inviting questions and updating her social media with videos, photos and comments on how they were as well. Great communication, excellent updates and demonstrations on social media along with a great program and follow up have led to a wonderful change in my dogs. Yes, they still love to snuggle and play but they also know how to readily go to work. If they are told to come, sit, place, down they do. No questions or hesitation. Thank you Jenzi!

Lily – Rough Collie
Jenzi is AMAZING! I have a 8 month old Rough Collie, Lily; who’s a service dog in training. As a working breed I could never find a way to help her settle. She would become frustrated with training extremely quick, and she would pace for hours if I’d let her. She also could not walk on a loose leash let alone a heel. Little kids and other dogs are her WEAKNESS. With that said- Lily was driven 2200+ miles from Florida to Arizona for her B&T and it could not have been more worth it!! Jenzi has given Lily the expectations she needed to succeed. She is now able to lay on place for hours and actually relax herself and find her own off switch! For a service dog this is ESSENTIAL. She has an amazing loose leash walk, and she provides more auto check ins then ever. She is so much more in tune with me, and is already much more present with task training. I can tell we are already building a better bond, just after a few weeks with Jenzi. Ever since I got her back, Jenzi has kept in touch, and we immediately scheduled the go home call. Unlike ALOT of trainers, Jenzi takes her time to teach you everything that is needed to keep your pup successful. Highly recommend!!

Oakley – Portuguese Water Dog
I was at my wits end with my 1 yr old Portuguese Water Dog… Counter surfing, jumping all over guests, destructive, barking at everyone and everything and a nightmare walker. We basically let him rule the house and I became the yelling mom… then I found Jenzi thank the Lord. Oakley went through her 3 week Board and Train and it was the best thing we ever did. We could have never gotten him to this point. Before training this dog would go from 0 to 90 in 2 seconds… after training we have a dog who may still get excited but he and we are now equipped to help him balance. He is basically training us right now. Jenzi is wonderful and really takes the time to explain how we need to communicate with our dog. It has been 4 days that Oakley has been back home and I am truly amazed and very thankful for all Jenzi was able to do. I just had the best walk ever with Oakley and I am so very happy. If you were ever questioning if you should invest in training, do it. You will have no regrets. Thank you Jenzi, you have done a fantastic job and I am very happy to say I am no longer the yelling mom.

We are so grateful for Jenzi and the work and love she puts into the dogs that go to her for training. Our buddy was a rowdy boy without an off switch and we had been taking him for 2 half hour plays every day because we thought it was the only way to get him to calm down. Now he has developed an off switch and a working-mode which makes our everyday 20 min walks very enjoyable, there’s no pulling, barking, or marking. I love that whenever we have a question or concern or we need some advice Jenzi is always there to help. So happy to have found her!

Over the last year, I have spent a lot of time in dog rescue fostering, rehabilitating, and helping them get adopted. Beau – Labrador Retriever
Jenzi did such an amazing job with our dog Beau. Before we worked with Jenzi, Beau was peeing and pooping everywhere. He was also a very anxious dog. After just a few sessions with Jenzi, we saw a huge difference!! We didn’t realize we were contributing to the problems. Whenever Beau would get anxious, we would comfort him. Little did we know, we were telling him that his behavior was correct. Jenzi showed us the correct way to handle his anxiety. We can now bring guests over without Beau freaking out. With all the tools she gave us, Beau also became potty trained. It’s been about 6 months since our training ended and Jenzi still messages us checking on Beau. She told us to text her any time we have questions, and she has been very quick to respond. I appreciate everything she has done for our family, and I would recommend her to anyone.

Luna – Boxer
I am so grateful my husband and I decided to send our boxer puppy, Luna, to Jenzi’s three week board and train! Our biggest concerns with Luna were her on-leash pulling, noise sensitivity and over-excitability. With a new baby joining our family in January, we wanted to make sure Luna had the proper tools to be a great family dog.
After her three weeks with Jenzi, she is finally enjoyable to take on walks! She is (and probably always will be) sensitive to loud noises but now we have the tools to help her work through it. We are continuing to follow Jenzi’s post-training game plan for Luna to help build our communication with her inside and outside of the house. Overall, Jenzi gave us the confidence and tools to positively influence Luna’s behavior and she helped Luna find a more balanced mindset! Although I was hesitant to send Luna away for three weeks, it was the best investment for our future with her.

Apollo – Siberian Husky
I was told by almost everyone I knew that a Husky rescue would be a handful from the start, and while I do love mine deeply, I definitely underestimated just how hard it would be to control him on walks and in the household. Through the course of several private lessons, we did multiple different types of training, ranging from on the leash walk training to come-place-down work in the home. I can say without a doubt the lessons that were given were some of the most informative and well constructed training sessions I could’ve imagined. Not only did Jenzi understand how my dog was working physically, but seemed to be so in tune with him physiologically that she was able to tell whatever he was thinking in the moment. Throughout the process and lessons, she was incredibly communicative and kind throughout it all, making me feel empowered enough to take the lessons she gave and implement them into my daily life with my dog I wholeheartedly recommend Jenzi for not only her one on one lessons, but whatever other types of training she might recommend for your dog. You won’t be disappointed.

Rhea – Pit Bull
Jenzi was the fourth trainer we had taken our dog (Rhea) to. Rhea was VERY reactive towards other dogs, and was uncontrollable when we would have anybody over at our house. With the first three trainers we made little progress, but Jenzi was definitely able to get through to Rhea. Her board and train program was exactly what Rhea needed to give her more structure and to allow Rhea to learn to communicate with us, as well as teaching us to communicate with her.
Jenzi was able to help teach Rhea how to stop and think about her decisions and to shut off if she is feeling too anxious about a situation. Since we have got Rhea back from the board and train we have seen amazing improvements in her behavior and are able to better understand her needs. We no longer have to fear guests coming over or seeing other dogs on walks. I cannot express the gratitude we have for Jenzi and her ability to teach Rhea and us how to communicate with each other effectively. I highly recommend reaching out to her with any training needs as I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

I couldn’t be happier with the training and support I received from Jenzi at Great Expectations K9 Training. From the beginning Jenzi provided exceptional communication. Jenzi listened to what I needed from my service dog, my unique health situation and gave me realistic expectations for what she could do to meet those needs. She also told me what I could reasonably expect from Mercy. She provided daily updates and encouraged me to voice any questions or concerns throughout. When it came time for training in a public, Jenzi went to a place very similar to where I work so she could see any issues that may arise once Mercy is ready for PA work. In training me to work with Mercy, Jenzi was very patient and made sure I completely understood. She gave the background on why she used particular methods. My relationship with Mercy and the rest of my pack has completely changed. Now that I know how important a dog’s calm mindset is, we are all much calmer. I understand how to meet Mercy’s needs so that she can work to meet my needs. Jenzi has provided excellent support since we brought Mercy home. Mercy’s “Go Home Plan” is exceptionally detailed and tailored to my circumstances. I look forward to our follow-up sessions and I am confident as I continue down the best path for Mercy.

Cooper – Small Breed Mix
Jenzi knows her stuff! My 1 & 1/2 year old dog Cooper was out of control when guests came over to the house. The door bell would ring and it was like a Circus Show! Cooper would run out the door, jump all over guests and bark nonstop, which would make it very hard to welcome friends and family over as I was trying to control my dog. I had mentioned to a friend about trying to train Cooper, and she recommended Jenzi. I gave her a call and am so glad I did! Cooper now stays inside the house until called to come. Stays on his place until I say it is ok to say hello to guests. Its definitely made everyone’s life happier! Thank you Jenzi for teaching me how to redirect Cooper to a more pleasant dog. Luna – Great Dane Mix
My entire experience with Jenzi has been phenomenal. My service dog, Luna was having fear based reactivity toward dogs and children. Jenzi was able to observe Luna and notice that she was actually noise sensitive to the environments that had her biggest triggers. I was able to learn the best way to communicate with my dog, along with having a life long helper in the process of dog training. Jenzi was more than willing to answer any and all questions I had, along with keeping me updated throughout the entire process. Luna was unsure of people and didn’t trust much, but she instantly trusted Jenzi. I would never had seen such drastic changes with any other trainer. Brock/Bayley – Siberian Husky/Golden Retriever
Jenzi was amazing at training and helping us with our husky and golden retriever. Our husky was showing signs of leash aggression and becoming a terror on walks. He would bark and lunge towards other dogs on leash. I can now confidently take him out on walks and know that he will have little to no reaction out of him. Our golden has mastered Come, Place, Down – though she’ll get testy with us at times, she knows exactly what to do! I can honestly say, sending my pups to Great Expectations K9 Training was worth every penny!

Lyla – German Shepherd Mix
In all honesty, we did have a problem but with the help of Great Expectations K9 Training, we’ve made a ton of progress and moved forward in our training in ways I didn’t think possible. We had an issue with Lyla barking at dogs, I knew it wasn’t aggression but with Jenzi’s help we figured out it wasn’t that she was aggressive or even over-excited, she was just at her mental limit for stimuli and needed to learn how to slow her mind down aso she could cope better. I love how Jenzi has taught me to read Lyla better and I feel so much more in tune with her. I’m excited to see our continued growth and I highly recommend them for your training and behavioral needs.

Ziva – German Shepherd
I can’t recommend Jenzi enough. I needed help with my service dog, Ziva, who had become reactive to dogs following a dog attack, and after no progress with other trainers, I was really considering washing her from work. I decided to do a lesson with Jenzi, and I’m so glad I did. She not only taught me what to do, but also explained why we were doing it, and did so without being condescending. We’ve already made lots of progress since our lesson about a month ago, and I’m no longer worried about retiring my service dog. The bond between Ziva and I is stronger than ever; I’m so thankful that she is able to continue to work.

Cannoli – Goldendoodle
We took our nine month old golden doodle Cannoli for training. We knew she was a puppy, and so we understood that she was going to be a little crazy. When we got her back, our dog is the most well behaved amazing dog we’ve ever had. I’m gonna be 100% honest here. There came a point a month ago where I was ready to get rid of Anai’a. I was irritated, frustrated, and downright exhausted. Oreo – Coonhound
We rescued a Coonhound from the Yavapai Humane Society. Today when you meet Oreo you wouldn’t guess how much of a struggle we had initially. It’s been 9 months now and Oreo is the best dog we could ask for. Jenzi was a big part in getting us to this point. We boarded Oreo for training for 2 weeks with Jenzi after we struggled with weekly training at Petsmart. Oreo needed one on one training – so did we frankly. Jenzi really helped settle Oreo down and teach him the expectations of our home. Jenzi also worked with my husband and I on our expectations of Oreo and how to better communicate with him. Jenzi has kept in touch and offered additional assistance to us which has helped improve our relationship with Oreo. I’ve never put a dog thru training before. Bodie – Standard Poodle
It’s been five weeks since we picked up Bodie from his three week boarding/training session with you, and every day since that time we have been so thankful for all your help and training. It has made such a difference in our lives and our relationship with Bodie that it’s hard to put into words. Walking him is now a joy instead of a somewhat worrisome event. It’s great to be able to casually hold the leash in one hand instead of two hands holding on for dear life. He gets compliments from friends and strangers alike–all saying how well behaved he is. People are willing to pet him, and he is no longer “mouthy” when they do so. When the doorbell rings, Bodie will sometimes give a little “wuf-wuf” (not the howling bark-fest like before) and, if he is not already in Place, we put him in Place and feel confident that we can answer the door and let anyone in with no issues. That change is like night and day. Life with Bodie is so much calmer now.
